It was an exciting start to the tournament season at Los Suenos Resort & Marina this year, beginning with Leg One of the Signature Triple Crown series.  January 26th to the 29th, were three jam packed, fun filled days from start to finish.

And They're Off, Day One

With over 30 boats in the water, Day One was off to an exciting start.  The boats were barely out of the marina before the first marlin bit.  With an overall of 71 marlin released on Day One, Ohana started off strong.  Sporting a brand new 68’ Viking this year, by mid day Ohana was in the lead with 2700 points followed by Scandalous and Miss Victoria with 1900 points and 1800 points, respectively. After a slow start Vaquero came in strong with several marlin in the afternoon and with just 30 minutes to spare they released their 5th marlin to overtake Ohana for first place on Day One.

Day One finished with Vaquero in the lead with 3000 points overall, following by Ohana in second place with 2800 points and Miss AC not far behind in 3rd place with 2700 points.

Not for the Faint of Heart, Day Two

On the morning of Day Two, everyone was down at the dock sharing tales from the day before, before heading back out to the deep waters. While Day Two did not bring quite as much luck for all the teams, Max Bet made the biggest move of the day. The team hauled in 4 marlin, all by different anglers, to help pull team into the lead for first place, showing what it means to put the word team in teamwork. Finishing out Day Two with an overall of 4700 points, Max Bet had the lead, followed by Vaquero and Miss AC, both pulling in 4100 points individually.  With Day Three still to come, it's anyones game.

For the Win, Day Three

On Day Three, pulling in 17 sailfish and a marlin, put team Tarheel at the top for the day, but for tournament leader Max Bet the day did not start off with as much hope.  Finally, catching their first sailfish at 3:30 pm, they pulled in over 700 additional points for the day in just 30 minutes.

Winner Winner

Max Bet ended Leg One in a thrilling third place finish, with Team Galati edging out Max Bet for second place, capitalizing on every opportunity of the day.

Miss AC, with 32 sailfish and 5 marlin, takes Leg One for the win!

In total over 800 billfish were released by 37 teams for one of the most exciting endings in tournament history.

MISS AC 5700 pts

TEAM GALATI 5400 pts

MAX BET 5400 pts

VAQUERO 5200 pts

BILLFISHER 5000 pts
