The Billfish Report recently named the waters off of Los Sueños Resort & Marina the Number One Bill Fishery in the World for 2015 and 2016, with good reason. The calm waters and short cruising time to the fishing grounds off Los Sueños Marina make it one of the most productive fisheries in the world. After the hugely successful Los Sueños Signature Billfish Series for 10 consecutive years and the annual Los Sueños Signature Triple Crown Billfish Tournament for three years, expectations are high for the fourth annual Triple Crown. Leg I of III kicks off January 18, 2017.
Team registration begins at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the tournament tent on the lawn in front of The Hook Up. Light snacks and beverages will be available there as team members mingle, catch up and trade anecdotes about recent catches. Captains and observers have mandatory meetings until 6 p.m., but anglers and their supporters can enjoy a sundowner, or two, at The Hook Up or any of the restaurants and bars in the Marina Village.
Days 2 and 3 begin early: Boats can leave the marina and go to the fishing grounds at 6:00 a.m. Or, as soon as Tournament Control confirms all observers have checked in and are aboard each boat. Lines will be in at 8 a.m. and out by 4 p.m. Scorecards are due to the Tournament Committee by 7 p.m.
After fishing, dockside cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be available at the tournament tent next to The Hook Up.
Day 4 is a repeat of the previous two days, except for the awards banquet and ceremony at Los Sueños hottest venue, The Los Sueños Beach Club.
