Vacations in Los Sueños

One of the things I love the most about vacationing in Los Sueños is the abundance of food options; like many travelers, food is a big part of traveling for me.  When headed for a stay Los Sueños Resort, it’s always a given that fresh ceviche and ice cold michaladas are in store. There is no shortage of great places to fine ceviche and beer, so I won’t go into those here. However, we do have a few favorite restaurants for finer dining in the evening; none of which should be missed. El Hicaco Perfectly situated right on the beach in midtown Jaco open air dining, a good wine list and excellent food make El Hicaso a favorite on my list of best dining options in the Los Sueños Resort- Jaco Beach area. Known especially for its Wednesday night All You Can Eat Lobster Feast, El Hicaco features freshly caught seafood flame-grilled seven days per week for lunch and dinner.  Reservations are highly recommended. Kaya Grill and Bar Conveniently located right in Jaco, kaya Grill and Bar invites you “taste the good life.” A casual atmosphere known for its exceptional steaks and seafood, you you won’t be sorry that you stopped in for a bite.  As good as the food is, though, you’ll want to try one of Kaya’s specialty drinks; from excellent sangria to their “Summer Breeze” made up of fresh pineapple juice, white wine and mint, the cocktails alone will blow you away. Lemon Zest An intimate experience, Lemon Zest Restaurant represents years of experience, classic techniques, modern presentations, new flavor combinations using fresh local ingredients. Fine wines, a full bar, homemade desserts including Nellie’s famous peanut butter ice cream pie, Bananas Foster Cheesecake & Mango Crème Brulee Pie all serve to compliment the excellent fare coming out of Chef Lemon’s kitchen. Try the duck; you’ll be thrilled that you did! Adventure Dining As much an experience as it is a good meal, your Adventure begins with a scenic coastal drive before ascending one of Costa Rica’s highest mountains. As you traverse the dense rainforest, breathtaking views appear around every turn. When you reach your final destination, you will simply say… WOW!. The open air dining platform overlooks the tallest waterfall in Costa Rica & miles of pristine coastline. Fresh flowers, tiki torches & romantic music create an unforgettable ambience. As the sun sets over the mountains, you can enjoy an open bar along with delicious appetizers. Dinner is begun with a delicious salad followed by entrees like filet minion with mushroom sauce & sea bass Kung Pao. After coffee & dessert, you are free to dance or simply enjoy the comradery and the music. Graffiti Restro & Wine Bar The ghetto-gourmet concept of this Jacó hot spot plays with the senses, starting with an interior that blends graffiti with soft candlelight and jazz. Chef Danny Clark’s menu relies on only fresh, locally grown ingredients, which go into dishes ranging from sushi to vegetarian, with creations like cacao-and-coffee-rubbed beef tenderloin, and a tuna-tartare tower that melts in your mouth. For something with a kick, try the snook seasoned with five Caribbean spices and topped with caramel soy. Fridays and Saturdays are a good day to visit, when Grafitti enjoys live music. Be sure to sample a signature martini with lemongrass and ginger or cucumber and basil, and indulge in one of the extraordinary desserts like chocolate cheesecake or peanut-butter-and-banana flambé. Finally, take home Graffiti’s flavors with their homemade spices and recipes, sold at the attached gallery, Urban Awol.
