5 Things to keep you and the family entertained while at Los Sueños Resort

There is plenty to do at Los Sueños Resort & Marina; in fact, so much so that we can almost guarantee you'll never hear them say, "I'm bored!"

Stand Up Paddling in Herradura Bay just outside of Los Sueños

An ancient sport dating back to 1000 B.C., this 3-hour tour of the Herradura Bay coastline is a great way to get out on the water with the whole clan. The water is calm, and you don't need previous experience.

You'll have incredible views of the coastline. And, you never know what marine life you'll spot: sea turtles, dolphins, and maybe even humpback whales!

Kayaking in Herradura Bay

If you're up for an adventure, take a kayaking tour of Herradura Bay's waters. The scenery is spectacular; you'll never tire of the views. You could also spot a dolphin or two, even a whale, at the right time of the year! The half-day tour includes time-ashore, where you can snorkel, if conditions allow, or beachcombing and wildlife spotting.

Open to experienced kayakers or first-timers who are up for an adventure, no experience is necessary.

Sport Fishing

Los Sueños Resort & Marina is an international game fisheries hotspot, whether inshore or offshore. Costa Rican fisheries are among the best billfish populations in the world. The ocean off Los Sueños is notable for calm waters and short trips to the fishing grounds. It's not uncommon for anglers to have a 20-fish day!

No previous fishing experience is required. Your charter's captain and crew are experts and will guide you through the whole expedition. Not only that, they know the waters well and finding fish is no problem. Half-day and full-day charters are available; you set sail right from the marina.

Hit the beach in Herradura, Jaco, Playa Hermosa, or further down the road in Esterillos, Costa Rica

No Costa Rican vacation would be complete without beach time. The area around Los Sueños is blessed with some fantastic beaches. Los Sueños has its own white-sand beach at its Beach Club, complete with a free-form pool (w, a children's pool, a swim up bar and Al Fresco Restaurant with a menu planned for all.

Playa Herradura, just outside Los Sueños' main gate, is excellent for swimming or renting kayaks. There are even a few beachside restaurants. The bay's protected waters mean calm surf and good swimming.

Jaco Beach has gentle surf and is good for beachcombing, beginner to intermediate surfers, body surfing, and boogie boarding.

If you're into beachcombing, Playa Hermosa may just be for you and the family with its long stretch of beach. Beachside restaurants dot the coast, so you can set up nearby to catch some rays and explore to your heart's content. This isn't a swimming beach; in fact, intermediate and advanced surfers love Playa Hermosa's breaks.

Set sail on the Central Pacific waters of Costa Rica

A 3-hour sunset tour aboard a 30-foot catamaran is the perfect ending to a perfect day in paradise. Or, start your day with a morning cruise.

Both trips include a snack and soft drinks, but the morning tour also includes time for snorkeling.

COVID-19 requirements: what you need to travel to Costa Rica

You'll need to provide proof of insurance to pay for any coronavirus-related treatment. The coverage should also include covering the cost of quarantine lodging while in Costa Rica.

In general, Costa Rica's border and immigration service is limiting the duration of your stay to the dates of coverage of your insurance policy.

Be sure to add the information about your insurance coverage to your HEALTH PASS, an online form that's also required and available 48 hours before your U.S. departure.

The Centers for Disease Control and the U.S. government now require a negative COVID test result within 72 hours before flying and landing in the States for your return home.

Los Sueños and Hospital Metropolitano partner to help U.S. visitors to Costa Rica meet the COVID testing requirements. The COVID testing center is at the Herradura Clinic just inside the resort's main gates. Currently, you'll pay about $135.00 per test.

You may need to wait as much as 48 hours to get your results. The best plan is to schedule testing at the 72-hour mark before departure. That way, you'll have test results in time for your flight home.

Jaco Walk's Clinical Laboratory is another place to get a COVID test.

Spring Break is coming; make your plans now.

These 5 things to do are just the tip of the iceberg. From ATVing to Ziplining, there are tours and adventures to keep you entertained.
