Adventures & Tours

One of the best reasons to travel to Costa Rica is for all the fun tours, activities, and adventures you can experience while on your vacation…and one of the many advantages of staying in one of our homes in Los Sueños Resort & Marina, is the proximity to numerous easily accessible day trips & adventures

As the first of our new Day Trip series, what to do on your vacation in Costa Rica, today we are featuring the infamous catamaran tour to Isla Tortuga.  Just off the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, you will find Tortuga Island, a dreamy island paradise, complete with pristine white sand beaches and crystal blue waters.  It is a perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, beach sports, or simply relaxing on the shore.  Needless to say, this idyllic gem is a must-see attraction!

Tortuga Island Catamaran Tour

Conveniently located in the marina at Los Sueños, there are options for catamaran tours leaving daily. You can expect a day filled with luxury infused adventure, coupled with expert bilingual staff, making the experience all that more unforgettable!

The day starts off with a light breakfast as you arrive onboard along with an explanation about the fun filled day ahead.  Once you set sail, enjoy the cool ocean breeze on your skin from one of the many comfortable outdoor seats or relax inside and enjoy the safety and comfort of the large fully air-conditioned cabin.

Keep your eyes peeled! There is much to see on the 45-minute cruise to the island including dolphin and whale sightings (depending on the season)!

Once you arrive in paradise, take your pick of the activities included in the tour: snorkeling, banana boat ride, and nature hikes.  There is plenty of time to do them all or simply take a dip in the crystal-clear waters and relax in paradise on one the lounge chairs on the beach.

Snorkeling

Isla Tortuga offers a remarkable snorkeling experience. Swim with an amazing array of marine life species including angelfish, porcupine fish, morays, needlefish, spotted eagle rays and many more tropical beauties. If you’re lucky you may spot large sea animals such as spinner dolphins, sharks, and octopuses.

Biodiversity

Tortuga Island is one of two islands that make up the Islas Negritos Biological Reserve off the Nicoya Peninsula. The dense foliage of the island serves as home to a wide array of native wildlife, birds and insects.  If you opt for the nature hike, you are likely to spot white-tailed deer, many kinds of birds, green iguanas, peccaries (a wild pig species) and even peacocks

The End to a Perfect Day

Whether you decide to make your island visit full of activities, use it to decompress or to keep the partying going with the rum punch and margaritas, eventually the day will come to an end and it will be time to leave. Any disappointment you feel should long be gone once you hop back on the catamaran for the return party cruise. Dance and sing the way back to that marina while the sea breeze blows through your hair and the golden hour shines. It’s the life you deserve!

When your boat trip ends at the marina, it will be perfect timing to watch the sunset. We suggest you find a place at Los Sueños Marina Village with a gorgeous view — the perfect cherry-on-top closure to your unforgettable experience.
