Papagayo Marina and the Four Season Resort was the site for the exciting Papagayo Cup which is part of the presidential challenge series in Costa Rica. Several boats from Los Sueños Marina made the three hour run up to Guanacaste to participate in this tournament, which is dedicated to the conservation and protection of Billfish and inshore game fishing.
We will like to congratulate this year winners which were all Los Sueños based fishing teams, for second year in a row Los Sueños based boat won first place. This year DRAGIN FLY scored 3,200 points for first place in second place was team XTA-SEA with 2,000 points and in third place PELESE with 2,000 points. I will like to give special congratulations to my good friend Alexis Chamorro who managed to take the Papagayo perpetual cup which awards the highest placing boat for the tour series. Each of the top three teams had at least one Marlin over the three days of tournament which took place this past May 16 through 19th.
I have been unable to go fishing recently but there has been a great bite offshore on Marlin and inshore is starting to get fire up. Over the past couple weeks, Capt. Dana Thomas of HOO’S YOUR DADDY reported Marlin and yellow fin tuna on the floaters offshore and inshore roosters, cubera, mackerel and snappers a group from Texas staying at Casa Tropical this past week had an incredible three days of fishing on DAMACO Capt. Mike Springer was able to put them on multiple Marlin hook up each day and on Thursday they released two Blue Marlin over 400 pound each.
It looks like fishing will remain hot for the next few weeks so contact us if you would like to schedule a fishing trip in Costa Rica.
