Restrictions Lifted Countrywide: April 1, 2022

Following the lead of other popular travel destinations around the world, we are happy to announce that, starting April 1st, 2022 Costa Rica has lifted all restrictions for international travelers to enter the country.  It will no longer be required for tourists to fill out a health pass to enter the country nor buy travel insurance.  In addition, all establishments will be open at 100% capacity and will not be requiring vaccines or QR codes to enter.

Note: Proof of COVID-19 vaccines are not now, nor have they ever been required to enter Costa Rica, at any time.

In addition to the restrictions being lifted throughout the country, we are happy to announce that the below mentioned restrictions within Los Sueños Resort & Marina will also be lifted beginning on April 1st. QR codes and vaccines will not be required to enter restaurants or the pool area within the resort.

Traveling Home

If your home country requires an antigen (rapid) test upon entry, getting a test within 24 hours of your departure time is easy. Simply reach out to our concierge team and they can help get you set up with a test administered directly in your vacation home or the clinic on site located within the resort.  There are also testing options upon arrival at the airport.

Traveling to Costa Rica

As it has been for many months now, all international tourists are permitted to enter Costa Rica by air, land and sea and do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test, nor quarantine upon arrival.  Visa requirements by country to enter Costa Rica, also remain the same and can be verified at the following link:

Health Pass:  All tourists must fill out a digital health pass prior to arriving, available here.

Vaccination Status & Travel Insurance:  Tourists who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and individuals aged 18 and younger (even if unvaccinated) can enter the country without a travel policy. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days prior to arrival in Costa Rica.

Note: Vaccinated tourists must attach their vaccination certificate to the Health Pass (see above).

**In the case of U.S. travelers, the "COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card" will be accepted, but be sure to read the requirements found, here.

Unvaccinated individuals aged 18 and older must purchase a travel policy with a duration equal to the period of stay in the country, with the exception of passengers in transit, whose minimum validity is five days that covers, at least, medical expenses generated by Covid-19 and lodging expenses due to quarantine.  There are many options for international travel insurance. Suggestions can be found here.

QR codes: As of January 21, 2022 until March 07, 2022 commercial establishments and mass activities can choose to voluntarily request the COVID-19 vaccination QR code from their customers in order to expand their capacity.

As of January 31, people 12 years and older must present the QR code to enter establishments and activities that voluntarily request it, as had been officially established and communicated since November 30, 2021.

**From December 17, 2021, individuals vaccinated abroad (Costa Rica citizens and foreingers) who do not have a QR code will be able to verify their vaccination status using the physical card provided when they were vaccinated. This will allow these individuals to enter commercial establishments which require proof of vaccination.

COVID Requirements at Los Sueños Resort & Marina

Here at the Los Sueños Resort & Marina we have remained open and functioning at a high capacity, but we have put in a few extra measures to ensure the safety of all guests and staff.

While the resort and the pools remain open, we now require that guests present their vaccine card to access the Beach Club as well as restaurants inside of the resort. Once inside you are not required to wear a mask.

We suggest downloading Costa Rica’s phone application to register your vaccine card and be able to present the QR code via the app upon request. Instructions and more info on the “Acceso Salud” app can be found here.
